What’s in a Brand?
The launch of the new Fire Protection Centre website and the creation of the Supply Centre brand have not gone entirely unnoticed with some customers asking what has happened to the old "FPC". Now it is not without some pride on our part that over the last 10 years or so our company has established itself within the fixed Fire Sprinkler industry to such a degree that the simple acronym "FPC" is now sufficient to identify us.
Well glad to say FPC is alive and well, only the presentation has changed to better respond to the digital age we live in. Be it Fire Protection Centre or FPC our people and our business are just the same whatever your title preference.
In some cases adopting Acronyms can be dodgy. Do you remember the old days of BASA the then British Automatic Sprinkler Association - our much vaunted trade association? When they were looking to renew their brand to face the internet challenge, research showed that in the first place a Basa is a catfish. Secondly BASA shared its Acronym amongst others, with the British Adhesives and Sealants Association, The Black and Asian Studies Association, The British Airgun Shooters Association and the British Australian Studies Association who can I guess teach you how to pull pints and fire up a mean Barbie.
But for the internet this would have no importance but a Google search changes everything and with this amount of competition BASA couldn’t get a look in. In the end BASA decided to put the fire back into Automatic Sprinklers to give us all the clarity of purpose now afforded by BAFSA.
The problem is also true of "FPC" where search results include as diverse an array of organisation as the Foreign Policy Unit, Family Planning Centres and would you believe the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling. Now that could come in useful!!
